Question pattern for Common Law Entrance Test

The Common Law Admission Test is conducted every year in various centres all over India in order to select students for studying in top law institutes. Hundreds and thousands of students appear for this exam. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious law entrance exams in India.
Before preparing for the Common Law Entrance Testit is necessary to know the question pattern. There are separate question patters for the   undergraduate as well as the postgraduate students. After reading this blog, you will be acquainted with the question pattern of CLAT and thus have a good CLAT Preparation.
For undergraduate students
Total marks for the examination will be 200. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. In case, two students secure equal marks in the examination or if there is a tie breaker between the two it will be broken by determining the higher marks secured by the two in legal aptitude and in terms of age, whichever is applicable. English and Logical reasoning will carry 40 marks, General Knowledge and legal aptitude 50 marks and elementary math will carry 20 marks.
For Post Graduate students
The exam will be held for a total duration of 2 hours and will carry a total of 150 marks. There will be mainly essay type descriptive questions which will cover topics from constitutional law and jurisprudence. This section will carry 100 marks, which will be divided into 4 questions carrying 25 marks each. The other section will consist of 50 multiple questions carrying one mark each. Here, questions from all important legal subjects other than constitutional law will be included.
